Natural stone for bathroom tiles is coming back. While the prices of marble and other natural stones had been cost prohibitive, new marbles from China are nearly the same price as the faux stone slabs from Europe, said Brooke Pearsall, managing director of design, HVScompass, Washington, D.C.

The Minneapolis-based company has leased an additional 6,500 square feet at its existing location in the historic, circa-1924 Star News building at 525 E. Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, Calif.

Molasses Reef, offering both resort and residential facilities, will debut in 2008 with an eco-conscious design by Scott Lee of SB Architects.

Hunter Douglas, a manufacturer of window coverings and architectural products, acquired the Broomfield, Colo.-based developer of motor controls for window coverings.

Hotel completed a multimillion dollar renovation spanning its 106,000 square feet of meeting space.

The new building will feature 100 hotel rooms and 15 residential condominium units.
