BROOKFIELD, Wis. (November 11, 2008) – Doug Nysse, Principal at Milwaukee-based Kahler Slater Architects, Inc., has been honored with the 2008 Associate of the Year award by the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association (WIA). This prestigious annual award, presented at the 2008 Wisconsin Lodging Conference & Trade Show, held October 27-28 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center, Madison, recognizes one professional who services Wisconsin's lodging industry in an exemplary manner.
As an associate director of the WIA Board of Directors since 2006, Nysse has been with Kahler Slater for 11 years and is responsible for leading the Kahler Slater hospitality design team. He has been a speaker at the national Lodging Conference in Phoenix and, with his team, has won numerous design project awards.
Nysse believes strongly in taking the best hospitality industry practices involving solutions in design, economics and operations, and applying them to each project, including a number of "start-to-finish" projects in Wisconsin.
"We design hospitality experiences for hotels and resorts in Wisconsin, across the United States and overseas," Nysse says about his profession.
For his service to the hospitality industry, Nysse also earned a special commendation from Gov. Jim Doyle.
