Hyatt Miami earns certification

H&MM Week In Review

MIAMI - July 7, 2008 - Hyatt Regency Miami has been recognized for its environmentally friendly operations and is now a member of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Green Lodging Program.

"We are thrilled to achieve Green Lodging certification, first and foremost, because we are lessening our impact on the environment," said General Manager Luis Aloma. "Also, as the largest meetings and conventions hotel in the city, being green is essential to our business. Now more than ever, people are considering ecological impact before booking meetings, events and accommodations. We are pleased and proud that we now provide our outstanding service in an environmentally friendly setting." The state's Department of Environmental Protection will present the hotel with its Green Lodging certificate during a ceremony later this month.

To become a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, hotels must implement a variety of green practices. These practices include, but are not limited to, water conservation measures through low flow plumbing fixtures and a linen reuse program, and energy efficiency achieved by installing ENERGY STAR appliances and programmable thermostats. The waste reduction criteria are met by providing the opportunity to recycle, purchasing items in bulk, purchasing recycled materials and by recycling ink and toner cartridges. All designated members of the Florida Green Lodging Program must also use green cleaners and high efficiency air filters, and clean air handler units frequently.

Hyatt Regency Miami offers guests service, style and sunshine right in the center of the city and is located within minutes of downtown's hottest restaurants, nightlife and cultural attractions. The 612-room hotel celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007 with $20 million in renovations and now boasts the newest luxury accommodations in the city. Stylishly remodeled common areas, a 24-hour business center and a fitness center cater to leisure and business guests alike. All guestrooms are designed to provide optimal comfort and boast Hyatt Grand Beds, floor-to-ceiling windows with dramatic city views, contemporary furniture and fixtures and walk-in closets. Oversized ergonomic work areas and wireless Internet accessibility offer additional convenience for business travelers.
