"The development of the L.A. LIVE project, and more importantly, the opening
of the JW Marriott at LA LIVE, truly marks the return of Downtown Los
Angeles as a viable meeting destination for large groups and annual
meetings," said Karen Englund, director of sales and marketing for the
property.
Featuring 879 guest rooms, including 35 suites, the JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE
will offer Downtown Los Angeles' most efficient meeting facility with more
than 77,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. As a focal point of LA LIVE, the hotel
will offer its guests access to world-class entertainment, dining, sports,
theater and music experiences.
Jack Kyser, vice president and senior economist for the Los Angeles Economic
Development Corporation said, "The JW Marriott hotel at LA LIVE will put Los
Angeles solidly back in the game of attracting major business shows to the
area. I've been waiting at least 20 years for this."
When the hotel opens in March 2010, a majority of the LA LIVE project will
be completed, which will give guests direct access to:
-- STAPLES Center -- Home to five professional sports teams, and the
premier venue for musical performances and televised award shows,
including the GRAMMY awards.
-- NOKIA Theatre LA LIVE -- 7,100-seat venue will be the new home to the
ESPY Awards, Emmy Awards and the upcoming American Idol finale
shows.
-- Club NOKIA -- 2,200-capacity venue will provide space for corporate
events and private parties.
-- The GRAMMY Museum -- Developed by The Recording Academy (NARAS) and
AEG, will pay tribute to music's heritage and cultural history.
-- Conga Room -- The legendary venue whose owners include celebrities
Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Smits will relocate from its mid-Wilshire
location to LA LIVE.
