April 29, 2008 (Chicago) - A new General Manager has been responsible for Swissotel Chicago since the beginning of April. Tim Herman, who most recently held the position of Hotel Manager at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Florida, has now moved to Swissotel Hotels & Resorts Chicago.
Tim Herman attended Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, and began his hotel career in 1981 at the Grand Hyatt New York. He later held a variety of food and beverage positions at Amfac Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental and Crowne Plaza.
Between 1995 and 2003 he held senior F & B positions at Caesar's Palace and The Venetian Hotel Resort Casino in Las Vegas, before launching his career in 2003 at Fairmont as Director of Food & Beverage of The Plaza Hotel in New York. In 2005 he headed the team at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club as Hotel Manager.
Swissotel Chicago offers 632 luxuriously oversized guestrooms and suites and 32 meeting rooms, which can accommodate up to 500 people. Designed by noted Chicago architect Harry Weese, the all-glass triangular hotel, wedged into the confluence of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, has fabulous wrap-around views from Navy Pier to Grant Park.
